What is Internet of Things (IoT)?

The Internet of Things refers to machines or systems that can communicate independently with other systems via the Internet.

By communicating with other systems, the machines become partially autonomous or take a lot of work off a human's hands.

Which devices are IoT?

Household appliances, such as washing machines, smoke detectors, smart TVs or webcams all work via IoT.

However, IoT smart devices are often used, such as sensors for heating, alarm systems or smart lightning.

Automation

Nowadays, automation is often achieved with a QR code.
A central system can thus provide the data relevant to the user, as is the case with package tracking on the Internet, for example.

criticism

Especially in the area of smart cars and homes, the Internet of Things is meeting with criticism. A recent IoT report in the leading cloud security reveals that unauthorized employee devices in especially can endanger security in a company. Such devices include digital home assistants, TV set-top boxes, IP cameras, smart home devices, smart TVs, smart watches and multimedia systems in vehicles.
